Fieldtrip
RRWM welcomes visitors from elementary, junior high, high school students, academics, government, the private sector, and the general public who want to see the waste processing process. Visitors are introduced to various organic and inorganic waste processing technologies which can then be applied in their respective environments.
If you want to visit our site, please kindly contact us through e-mail piat@ugm.ac.id
Internship
RRWM provides internship service open to high school students, university students, public, and the government. Participants will learn waste management, organic waste processing (composting method, bioconversion using Black Soldier Fly, biogas fermentation), processing of inorganic waste (pyrolysis, hydrothermal, paving block machines), making liquid organic fertilizer, making slow release fertilizers, and so on. Through this internship, participants can carry out waste processing directly.
Workshop and Training
RRWM serves training for public including composting training, Black Soldier Fly cultivation, organic waste processing using biogas technology, making liquid organic fertilizer, and plastic processing. Organic waste processing training can be continued with training on the use of its products for the cultivation of vegetables and food plants.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT
Black Soldier Fly Cultivation in Kronggahan Village (2019 - Present)
About 50% of the waste produced by Indonesians is domestic organic waste, which decomposes easily, can cause odors and other sanitation problems. The presence of maggots or Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae in the waste management system is very useful. BSF maggots have the ability to degrade organic waste and act as decomposer. The process of organic waste degradation with the help of BSF larvae is one of the promising alternatives in waste management. As a part of the dissemination of technology that has been implemented at the UGM Center for Agrotechnology Innovation (PIAT UGM) in collaboration with the UGM Academic Hospital (RSA UGM) to apply this technology in Kronggahan, Trihanggo, Gamping District, Sleman. This activity aims to produce BSF maggots which can be used as fish or poultry feed from consuming organic waste. The series of activities carried out for the application of BSF maggot technology include BSF maggot cultivation installation activities in Kronggahan including cultivation training and fish/poultry feeding with BSF maggots.
Black Soldier Fly Cultivation in Edutourism Taman Pintar Yogyakarta (2019 - Present)
Taman Pintar Yogyakarta is a place for expression, appreciation and creation of science in a pleasant atmosphere. Taman Pintar tries to provide educational tourism services with the best teaching aids. One of the learning vehicles in Taman Pintar is the Waste Management Corner with Black Soldier Fly Cultivation in collaboration with RRWM PIAT UGM. The BSF here is used to process the Taman Pintar canteen waste which is expected to educate the public to process organic waste independently.
Solid Waste Self-Management Assistance in Gentan Village, Sukoharjo Regency, Jawa Tengah (2020 - Present)
Gentan Village produces for about 12-15 tons of waste per day. The composition of the waste is in the form of inorganic waste about 51%, organic waste 44%, and other waste about 5%. Every day the waste must be transported to the Mulur Final Processing Site (TPA), Mojorejo Sukoharjo, which is located about 27 km away. Based on the results of deliberations between the village government and community leaders, it is time for Gentan Village to handle this waste by processing and building an Integrated Waste Management Unit on the village treasury land with a building area of 2000 m2. The development of the waste processing unit will be accompanied by RRWM for the selection and application of technology that can be used to solve waste problems in the community. One of the technologies that has been applied in Gentan Village is the Rotary Composter with Pedaling Model. This technology has been used to compost organic waste.

Waste Management in Sendangtirto Village (2021)
RRWM UGM is accompanying Sendangtirto Village to build an integrated waste processing facility. Choosing the right technology has a big influence on the success of waste processing. The waste processing technology that will be applied in Sendangtirto Village includes composting, making liquid organic fertilizers, and cultivating BSF which can be used for feed. Activities that have been carried out include FGD on waste management plans and training in organic waste processing.
BSF Cultivation in Traditional Market (Pasar Tradisional) Rejowinangun, Magelang, Jawa Tengah (2018)
Traditional markets produce a lot of organic waste which can cause bad odors and other sanitation problems. This organic waste is usually only thrown into landfills. To solve this problem, RRWM together with the Waste Refinery Center (WRC) coaches the managers of Pasar Rejowinangun, Magelang to process organic waste with Black Soldier Fly (BSF), this process is named with Bioconversion. The result of this bioconversion is BSF maggot which can be used as feed. The residue from the bioconversion by the BSF maggot is then used as organic fertilizer. This activity is expected to be an example for other traditional market managers to process their organic waste independently.
