PIAT UGM student flat project would be started soon. The project was symbolized by the placement of the first stone on last Friday (2/10). The event was attended by several stakeholders, including the internal staff, the Head of PIAT UGM (Dr. Ir. Taryono, M. Sc), the UGM’s Vice Chief of Research and Community Service (drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M. Kes, Ph. D), the UGM’s Chief of Sub-directorate, Directorate’s Infrastructure and Assets (Walyono, S. T., M.Eng.), and the external which was attended by the Commitment Officer whom also the representative of General Directorate of CNVWU Housing of Yogyakarta Province, Ministry of Public Work and the Public Housing Republic of Indonesia (Muh. Ridwan, S. T., M. T), the police chief of Berbah sector, the non-commissioned officer for village guidance of Kalitirto, and also the contractor representative of PT. Linggarjati Perkasa; PT. Samudra Anugrah Indah Permai KSO and PT. Delta Buana as the consultant representative.
“This flat is aimed at the local and international student who undergoes research within PIAT UGM,” as stated by Dr. Ir. Taryono, M.Sc. He elaborated that this project was based on the increasing amount of internship students and the PKL students each year. “By constructing this facility, we hope that the students could enjoy their study time here in PIAT UGM,” he added. Before this project was generated, there were a lot of things to be done. One of it was to mediate with the locals about their consent on bringing the heavy equipment in.
This project was initiated since 2019, but it could only be realized this year. This project is also the result of collaboration with UGM by the Ministry of Public Work and the Public Housing grant. Later, the project was planned in eight months which would be finished on Mei 2021. The project would be done in 2 twin block of empty fields on the east of PIAT UGM. this building would become a three-story building which contains 43 rooms that size is 3×3 m2 and provided with mini balcony in each room.
The event was finished with the lunch of the crew, the Head of PIAT and UGM’s Vice Chief of Research and Community Service stated their wish on this project, “We hope that this project could regrow the younger generation’s interest in agriculture and also we hope to increase the number of PIAT UGM research reseults,” as stated by drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M. Kes., Ph.D.
