The physical construction work of the PIAT Student Dormitory which was carried out from September 2020 to April 2021 has finally been completed. The apartment was built on the east side of the PIAT office building, consisting of 1 tower with 43 rooms. This flat, which is a grant from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, is intended to provide housing for students and researchers at PIAT UGM.

Thursday (22/7), the Ministry of Public Works and Housing represented by the Head of the Yogyakarta Housing Provision handed over the dorm keys to the Head of The Center for Agrotechnology Innovation (PIAT).

“I hope that even though the keys of the dormitory have been handed over, we will continue to communicate because as long as the building are in the final handover stage, these dorms will still be our responsibility,” said M. Arifman, S.T., M.M as the Head of the Yogyakarta Housing Provision when giving a speech.

“Whereas the use of dormitory as Covid-19 shelters, PIAT could coordinate directly with the Social Service and Health Office. Hopefully this dorm will give a lot of benefit to many people,” he added.

The enhancement of Covid-19 cases in Yogyakarta has caused Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) to contribute in providing shelter for symptomatic and intermediate patients. One of the buildings allocated was the PIAT’s Dormitory which was allocated for Covid-19 survivors in the Eastern Sleman region.

“On behalf of Universitas Gadjah Mada, PIAT would like to thank to the Ministry of Public Works and Housing for realizing PIAT’s desire to have dormitory to support our innovation activities,” said Dr. Ir. Taryono, M.Sc. He further revealed that this dorm will be used by PIAT as a place to live for students who are doing internships and also domestic and foreign researchers who are conducting research activities at PIAT in the future.

The afternoon activity was closed with the signing of the key handover document. Besides being attended by representatives of the Ministry of Public Works abd Housing and the Head of PIAT, the UGM Asset Directorate was also attended.

popmake-7311
